After some deep thought and serious reflection Whole Foods CEO John Mackey regrets using [such a strong word] as fascism to describe President Obama’s Affordable Care Act. ”I regret using that word now because it’s got so much baggage attached to it,”Mackey said on an episode of HuffPost Live on Thursday. “Of course, I was just using the standard dictionary definition.”
Mackey almost went mad after the health care law passed in 2010, first calling it socialism and then fascism. To Mackey ”we no longer have free-enterprise capitalism in health care.” Now that “the government is directing it, we need a new word for it.”
Screaming fascism these days is the equivalent of screaming fire in a crowded room, suffice to say it isn’t cool anymore. So Mackey will refer to Obamacare as “government-controlled health care,” because up until Obamacare the health care system just peachy the way it was.
