The troupe continues to dazzle with a newly released Broadway cast recording to accompany the already high-grossing show.

The cast of The Color Purple gathered Thursday night to celebrate yet another milestone, the release of their new Broadway cast album.

subscribeThe stars of the show—Jennifer Hudson, Cynthia Erivo and Danielle Brooks—came out for an intimate, foot-stomping good time that served as a welcome break from the grueling 8 shows a week schedule.

The cast crooned along with the crowd as they were treated to the tracks “Hell No!,” performed by Danielle Brooks (Sophia) of “Master of None” and “Orange is the New Black”; “Push Da Button,” by Grammy, Golden Globe and Academy-award winning megastar Jennifer Hudson (Shug Avery) and “What About Love?,” where Hudson is joined by Cynthia Erivo (Celie). Erivo reprises her role as Celie, coming to Broadway via London’s Menier Chocolate Factory production of The Color Purple. The super-talented and always humble Erivo is a strong bet for the 2016 Tony award for best lead actress in a musical.

The Color Purple, which began productions in mid-November 2015, has consistently sold out shows and has garnered record numbers on Broadway, grossing more than $10 million, and drawing in nearly 100,000 theatregoers.

The album includes 26 tracks, liner notes that include “The Story” and the lyrics to every song. Before now, it was clear that The Color Purple would be well represented at the 2016 Tony Awards, but this album has opened the door to The Grammys, as well.

The cast album is available beginning February 11th at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre (and in stores February 19th).
